Results over Effort

We can these variables:

  • Time
    • Hours of work
    • Project beginning and end dates
  • Cost
    • labor
    • Cost of schedule time
    • Materials cost

If we able to quantify effort we could measure the work we put into something to determine its value as compared to the results. Usually results can be measured in some manner. Effort is more difficult to attain an quantified value from. We wonder, was that result worth all that effort?

This is especially true with businesses.

In business it is often

Results                       =       Value

Effort + Complexity + Learning

Factors that impact the variables: Quality, Schedule, Worker’s knowledge and skills

“If I could, I would I would always work in silence and obscurity, and let my efforts be known by their results.” Emily Dickinson.
